Massive Quantities Of Water To Be Pumped Into Cyprus From Turkey By July

TURKEY is expected to start pumping massive quantities of water to the occupied areas of Cyprus by the middle of July.

Turkish media say that 75 million cubic meters of water annually will be transferred from Turkey to Cyprus with pipelines 250 meters under the sea.

Hakan Dincyurek, said the target is to start the stream on 20 July, the anniversary of the 1974 Turkish invasion of the island.

The project cost $500 million-plus, and the pipeline was deemed necessary to help cover the water and irrigation needs of the population in the north.
