Cities In Cyprus Grow in A Disorganized Way - Prof. Dr. Hossein Sadri (GAU)




SADRÄ°: "VERTICAL GROWTH OF CITIES IN CYPRUS IS INEVITABLE"

Girne American University Architecture, Design and Fine Arts Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hossein Sadri have realized important statements about architecture and urban design in Cyprus at the television program he participated.

In his statement, Sabri expressed that cities in Cyprus grow in a disorganized way and horizontally, which brought many problems, such as especially accessibility, security, lack of quality urban, social and cultural services, by condemning people to private cars, mentioned that environmental pollution causes disadvantage of people with disabilities, women and the elderly and stated that cities should prepare long-term plans for the vertical growth as a solution to all these disadvantages. Sadri who informed that they conducted numerous studies on the social and political field of the architecture and that they still have ongoing works in the field of architecture and human rights, stated that the vertical growth might as possible in certain areas in the city determined in the long run, but to do that collective aspects of these places are necessary to be at the forefront to bring together the city and architecture in order to make spatial according to human rights with good organization of infrastructure, roads, lighting, green areas, pedestrian and bicycle paths, collective cultural and social areas.

 Sabri who declared that he thinks this can be considered an environmental plan that will come to save the land that has grown to be efficient in millions of years from becoming concrete, gave examples of projects carried out by GAU Faculty of Architecture in collaboration with the various municipalities later in the program and underlined that GAU the Faculty of Architecture lecturers and students started various studies particularly in Kyrenia, Nicosia and including Alsancak to help developing cities with the human and environmental sensitivity in Cyprus.
