2014: GOVERNMENT partners DIKO - the Democratic Party – have voted to quit the ruling coalition after expressing dissatisfaction at the roadmap for new Cyprus peace talks.

2008: Employment growth in the European Union has been impressive during the last year, with almost 6.5 million new jobs being created during the past two years and another 5 million jobs forecast by 2009.

2003: Nicosia included in Olympic Torch Relay route Nicosia, Feb 22 (CNA) Cyprus is included in the Olympic Torch Relay route, according to a decision of the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which convened in Lausanne and presented by President of Athens 2004 Organising Committee for the Olympic Games, Gianna Angelopoulou-Daskalaki.

2000: President of the newly-founded Social Democrats Movement Vassos Lyssarides today left for Libya for an official visit of the Libyan government. According to a party press release, Lyssarides will meet Libyan leader Muammar Al-Qaddaffi to whom he will convey a personal letter from Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides.

1997: Foreign Minister, Alecos Michaelides is leaving today for Brussels to attend the 18th Meeting of the Cyprus-European Union Association Council to take place on Tuesday, February 25. The Meeting will discuss issues concerning the EU-Cyprus relations as well as the country's process of accession to the Union.
