Final preparations for the forthcoming "presidential elections" in the Turkish occupied north, which are scheduled to take place on April 19, have begun.
All "official candidacy applications” must be submitted by March 13th; the "final candidates” will be announced on March 23 while the "election campaign period” will officially start on March 24.
So far six-people have announced their candidacy.
The "presidential candidates” are as follows:
1. Dervis Eroglu (independent candidate supported by the National Unity Party –National Forces (UBP-UG)
2. Sibel Siber (candidate with the Republican Turkish Party-United Forces (CTP-BG)
3. Mustafa Akinci (supported by the Social Democracy Party (TDP) and the United Cyprus Party (BKP)
4. Kudret Ozersay (independent candidate)
5. Mustafa Onurer (candidate with the Cyprus Socialist Party (KSP)
6. Arif Salih Kirdag (independent candidate)
